Lessinia

Lessinia is an upland area of the Alps whose highest peaks can achieve 1800 meters of altitude. It is a magic place, rich of mysteries and history. Human presence has been detected since prehistorical age and it amplified during the centuries through Arsunati people till Romans and up to Cimbri people. This last Cimbrian people mostly influenced uses and local gastronimic tradition.

Veja bridge is one of the more evocative and particular place in Lessinia, that we highly suggest to visit. It is one of the biggest and impressive natural rock bridge among Europe. The brige is located in Sant’Anna d’Alfaedo area, such a place can be easily reached by car. underneath the bridge some caves are visible being testimony of prehistorical settlement.
we suggest as well to visit other symbolic places such as (Mountain peak) Corno d’Aquilio, Grotte di Fumane (caves), valle delle sfingi (valley) and molina cascades.

Cimbrian people started settling the Veneto pre-Alps already in the X Century and they arrived in Lessinia around the XIII century. Settling themelves down, uses and Cimbrian tradition were mixed together with local people. Giazza is a little village where the evidences and traces of Cimbrian tradiiton are still visible. Giazza can be easily reached by car.

Higher Lessinia area, starting from 1200 up to 1800 meters of altitude, can count on several Alpine huts roughly 120. In the beginning alpine huts were used to produce cheese and during the years startes offering services and more products. Up to date alpine huts offer all typical products for sale and often you can eat and sleep there.
